Sheri Denham graduated from the University of Maryland, School of Nursing with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing Degree in 2004. She earned her Masters of Science in Nursing Degree from Simmons College in Boston, MA in 2016. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She has completed extensive specialty training and holds certificates in Bioidentical Hormone Therapy, Anti-Aging Therapy, Medical Weight Loss, and Opioid Addiction Treatment. She will complete training and board certification in Botox/ Dermal Fillers in the fall of 2017.
Sheri has a wide range of experience including: intensive care, wound care, family medicine, and internal medicine. Most currently, Sheri owns and operates her private practice which specializes in addiction medicine. She also is the Medical Director of an inpatient rehabilitation facility. Sheri spent 12 years working for MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC in multiple intensive care settings. Her specialty ICU experience includes: Burn, Trauma, Surgical, Medical, Coronary Care, Cardiac Surgery, and Neurosurgery. She served as a team leader for the Rapid Response, Sepsis, and Code Blue Teams.
Sheri has completed extensive research on opioid addiction. She co-authored a research paper entitled, Iatrogenic Opioid Addiction, and presented this research at the Western Maryland Heroin Task Force Summit. The information presented at this summit contributed to the many law changes that were implemented in 2017 holding healthcare providers responsible and accountable for their prescriptive practices.
