Dr. Venu Karapareddy is an Addictions psychiatrist from Vancour; working at Vancouver General Hospital at inpatient psychiatry unit. He is also Clinical assistant professor at UBC. He holds FRCP from Canada and MRCPsych and Executive MBA from the United Kingdom.
He did his Psychiatry training and addictions fellowship training from United Kingdom. He later worked as a consultant and clinical lead running a busy inner-city community and inpatient Drug and alcohol services in the city of Liverpool (UK). He moved to Canada in 2012; after briefly working in Greater Toronto, he moved to Vancouver 2013. Since being in Vancouver, he has provided his concurrent disorder expertise to Vancouver Coastal Health and Provincial Health authority.
He has a small private practice working with clients with ADHD and comorbid conditions.
His area of interests has been models of care for those with addictions and mental health issues. Over the years, he has been involved in various quality initiatives for addictions treatments within psychiatric settings. He is currently, the Concurrent Disorder lead for Vancouver Acute and tertiary within Vancouver Coastal Health.
He is also the concurrent disorder fellowship director which is run through Vancouver Acute and UBC. He is part of the BC psychiatry association executive committee.
